In its continuation of give back policy, the Lagos State University Directorate of Advancement has once again rolled its sleeves to put smiles on the faces of more than 300 residents of the Akesan community, Lagos State as they provide free medical checkup.
The third edition of the LASUDA medical outreach exercise tagged “Happy Hour” was held on Thursday at the Palace of Oba Tajudeen Abayomi Fagbohun, Alakesan of Akesan Kingdom, Ojo, Lagos State.
Director, LASUDA, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello, said that the University under Professor Lanre Fagbonhun administration has collaborated with the Medical Women Association of Lagos State to ensure sound health and run free tests on height, weight, body max index, sugar check, cholesterol, bloodpressure, dental check, cervical smear, eye test, urinalysis amongst others on the residents of Akesan .
The first and second edition was held at University Main campus, Ojo and Epe campus respectively.
In furtherance, she said: “This exercise is also for the advancement of the university. Everything we do here is for Lagos state and the advancement of LASU. When we detect something serious like lumps in the breast we refer the patient to a well equipped hospital that can handle such case. We also have some drugs with us that can terminate cervical cancer at its early stage.
She also pointed out that the venue was chosen because a large number of the LASU staff and students reside in the community and for its closeness and accessibility of the team. She promised that subsequent editions will also be taken to other towns and villages within the state.
Oba Tajudeen Abayomi Fagbohun, Alakesan of Akesan Kingdom told OPTIMUM TIMES that a general meeting has been slated for Saturday to deliberate on what happened at the medical outreach and also to encourage Patients to go for treatment.
“The medical outreach has seriously helped my people, when they heard the broadcast they were filled with joy. I was also checked by the doctors. I am so happy and grateful to LASU for this”, he said.
