
The Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun speaking to selected members of staff and students of the institution who had participated in the successful hosting of the National Workshop on Research Grant-writing and Administration.
The Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun, on Wednesday, harped on the need for Staff and Students of the University to embrace the spirit of service and volunteerism if they are to attain the pinnacle of their careers and move the University to greater heights.
He stated this when he played host to selected members of staff and students of the institution who had participated in the successful hosting of the National Workshop on Research Grant-writing and Administration, which took place between 12th and 14th February, 2018.
The National Workshop, which attracted participants and resource persons from within and outside Nigeria was facilitated by the Academic Capacity Development and International Engagement under the headship of Prof Chidi Oguamanam.
Prof Fagbohun, while making his remarks at the brief ceremony reiterated the submissions made by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Olumuyiwa Noah and that of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof Oyedamola Oke that developed societies and institutions are built on service and togetherness, thus the need for members of the University to serve voluntarily whenever the need arises without expecting financial gains. The VC added that the occasion was to appreciate all the individuals who ensured that the workshop held successfully.
He noted that the letter of commendation presented to them would go a long way opening doors for them in future.
Earlier in his address, the Director, ACDIE, Prof Chidi Oguamanam, who oversaw the organization of the hugely successful National Workshop noted that the Workshop has continued to be a reference point for other institutions in the country. He thanked the volunteers- staff and students, for playing their part in the programme.
The Vice Chancellor thereafter presented a personally signed letter of commendation to each of the volunteers and took pictures with them.
The Vice Chancellor was joined at the ceremony by other members of the Management including the Acting Bursar, Mr Benjamin Asade and the Acting Librarian, Mrs Aderonke Bello.
