emPLE General Insurance Limited has launched a community-focused preventive health initiative aimed at improving access to early medical screening and wellness services for women and children in Lagos as part of activities marking International Women’s Day 2026.
The initiative, tagged emPOWERHer, brings together public and private sector partners to deliver free health services designed to encourage early detection of common health conditions affecting women. The programme is scheduled to take place on March 7 at the insurer’s headquarters on Akin Adesola Street in Victoria Island, where participants will receive a range of screenings, vaccinations and wellness checks.
Central to the campaign is a partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Health and Bastion Health, which will lead medical interventions including cervical and breast cancer screenings, hypertension checks, blood sugar tests and Body Mass Index assessments.
The collaboration also includes the provision of free Human Papillomavirus vaccinations for girls aged between nine and fourteen, a critical preventive step in reducing the risk of cervical cancer.
Beyond medical services, organisers say the event is designed to raise awareness about preventive healthcare and encourage healthier lifestyles.
Activities will begin with a community awareness walk through major routes in Victoria Island before participants return for a cardio fitness session and on-site health screenings.
Commenting on the initiative, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of emPLE General Insurance, Olalekan Oyinlade, said the programme reflects the company’s belief that meaningful healthcare access requires practical interventions that reach communities directly.
Acting Managing Director of emPLE Life Assurance Limited, Jolaolu Fakoya, added that improving access to screening and reliable health information can significantly improve outcomes for women and their families.
The event, which will also feature support from Sosa Fruit Drinks for participants, will be open to women and families seeking accessible preventive healthcare services, reinforcing growing collaboration between insurers and healthcare stakeholders in promoting public health awareness in Nigeria.
