The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said that its Ward Level Enrolment Drive which officially commenced on Monday 16th February 2026 is still ongoing and progressing steadily across the federation.
NIMC reiterates that the National Identification Number (NIN) remains a foundational requirement for accessing critical government services in Nigeria, according to a statement by Dr. Kayode Adegoke, NIMC Head, Corporate Communications.
He said the Commission encourages all citizens and residents who have not yet enrolled to take advantage of this decentralised exercise and present themselves at designated ward enrolment centres.
In addition, Adegoke explained that to ensure smooth operations, members of the public are advised to: Check the NIMC website for the nearest designated enrolment point within their ward, Cooperate with enrolment officials, Provide accurate information during registration, or visit and follow NIMC official communication channels for verified information and updates: www.nimc.gov.ng ; including its other Social media accounts.
He assured that NIMC remains committed to achieving inclusive identity coverage nationwide and calls on all citizens and residents to come out en masse to register and obtain their National Identification Number.
