…Says Nigeria has fallen into Hands of Merchants

Again, one of the founding fathers of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Sule Lamido has painted a grim future for Nigeria’s democracy as permutations for 2027 general elections gather momentum.
Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa state and Foreign Affairs Minister took a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration saying its policies have inflicted more pains and hardships on Nigerians rather than alleviating the sufferings of Nigerians.
In speech he delivered at the congress of the Jigawa state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Aminu Kano Triangle Dutse on Saturday, said from all available indicators, Nigerians were fed up with the APC’s rule and policies.
But he was distressed that despite the grim realities on the ground, where life of the majority of Nigerians was becoming meaningless by the day, the administration had continued to use the state apparatus to suppress the People’s rights, especially the opposition.
Lamido’s outburst underscores the deepening rift between the two parties, the ruling APC and the opposition PDP, where he launched a scatting attacks on the Bola Tinubu administration’s policies of forcing people into the folds whether they believed in it’s policies or not.
Lamido’s comments also touch on broader issues of governance and leadership in Nigeria, which he believes are hindered by the ruling APC.
Reflecting on the wave of defections from opposition patties into the ruling APC , the former governor attributed to the use of state power by the ruling party and predicted that the ruling party would suffer the same fate of the previous parties.
His words, “In today’s Nigeria, the only thing you hear from Nigeria, is the harsh economic wellbeing of Nigerians, but the distressing thing is that on daily basis you hear people defecting into the APC and you begin to ask yourself what’s happening.
‘Despite the realities on the ground, Tinubu s son would bring small bags rice and people will line up to collect and go to continue in their normal lives and be complaining, which means they have decided to look inflict hardship on the citizens so that the can take their sense of reasoning.
“Only yesterday, (Saturday), I heard that some strong members of PDP have decamped to the APC from Kebbi state. Also the governor of Delta and two former governors of that state have also moved to the APC. All these are indications that they are being intimidated with the threat of being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“Therefore, Nigeria is drifting to a tunnel of disintegration with mushroom cabals as implementers of bad policies, and mission of President Tinubu, who lacks good mission and objectives of good governance for success and prosperity.”
“For us to be out of this catastrophic monopoly, all hands must be on deck in jetting out this so-called misled crop of architects, set of people with failed mission and objectives, people whose characters are questionable, full of inhumane feelings, for them to usher good governance.
“As it is now, the country is in search of a dynamic leader, a leader with human compassion, decency, uprightness, and dedication and the only way to achieve this is to take a holistic approach in acting and working positively towards that direction.
“Anything short of that, I’m afraid if the country would not collapse under Tinubu’s head because in a democracy where there’s no opposition what you’re inviting is anarchy and disintegration because the constitution of the country has made provision for opposition.”
Despite the difficult tines facing the opposition, the former governor believes that PDP has opportunity and strength to trash it’s opponents and take over the country come 2027 if only it puts its house order.
He added, “I therefore charge all our newly elected State’s PDP Exco to eschew selfishness, greed, among other bad characters, to uphold honesty, good leadership with exemplary dedication and hard work, as the task ahead of you people is enormous in working tirelessly for the success of the PDP in 2027 for us to be able to jet out APC out of government for PDP, for us to enact a purposeful leadership in meeting the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians
