The University of Abuja has once again made a bold statement to the world, as three of its graduates, Sanni Adavize David, Marvelous Idisi, and Ofure Bethel Inedia, bagged First Class honours at the Nigerian Law School.

The director, Clinical Legal Education (CLE), and pioneer coordinator of the University of Abuja Law Clinic, Dr Nasiru Mukhtar, who disclosed this, noted that the students were able to withstand the rigorous study methods and high assessment standards of the Nigerian Law School to emerge with flying colours.

This was disclosed in a statement posted in one of the UniAbuja’s Social Media platforms.

“To bag a First Class honour from the Nigerian Law School in the recently released November 2024 Bar 2 result is no mean feat,” said David, one of the three top stars, who also emerged as the Best Graduating Student of the Faculty of Law (2021/2022).

“I am super grateful to God Almighty for crowning my efforts with success. Any student who is a product of our great University can achieve excellence anywhere in the world.”

Speaking in the same vein, Marvelous Idisi, remarked, “I am so excited to be considered worthy by the NLS for attaining the highly coveted First Class Degree (Red Scroll). But most paramount is the fact that I am able to show the quality of students that my University can produce—being changemakers.”

Ofure Bethel Inedia described the achievement as a dream come true, stating that, “I am overwhelmed with joy and fulfilment. This achievement reminds me of my time at the Faculty of Law, where I had incredible lecturers and an amazing study environment. The motivation and care I received there shaped my study culture, and I’m thankful for that experience.”

Dr Mukhtar told the University’s social media team that the Faculty of Law of the University had consistently produced top graduates at the Law School, including two graduates from the last set—Onyeka Oduye and Ijeoma Onyia—who also made First Class.

“We have made this statement several times that the Faculty of Law, and indeed the University of Abuja, is truly a number one university in terms of academic excellence,” Mukhtar affirmed, adding that, “Our faculty is blessed with well-exposed academic stalwarts, and we have structures that support students’ academic well-being. Our functional moot system, for instance, equips students with practical litigation skills and sharpens their advocacy.”
