The Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, has led a management team on inspection tour of the vandalised transmission tower in Akwa Ibom state which threw the nation into blackouts.

They undertook an on-the-spot assessment of the vandalized Tower No. 104, along Odukpani/Ikot Ekpene 330kV transmission line in Oku Iboku Community, Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The vandalized tower caused a sudden loss of 400MW from the grid causing its collapse on Friday, 8th April 2022. The grid has since been restored.

A statement by the TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah appealed to host communities to assist the company in the fight against vandalising the nation’s collective assets, by reporting suspicious activities around its operations to TCN offices or security operatives.
