The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has paid the sum of N13,894,873.94 million to 717 verified pensioners of two parastatals for the month of April, 2018.
The breakdown of the figures showed that
639 pensioners are retirees of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) while 78 pensioners are civilian retirees of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
A statement from PTAD office confirmed that these pensioners had been added to the PTAD payroll and paid their April, 2018 monthly pensions.
It disclosed that while 639 FHA pensioners were paid a total of N11, 954, 362.31, those 78 NDA Civilian pensioners were paid a total of N1, 940,511.63.
According to the statement, “This new batch of enrollees were verified by the Directorate during a validation exercise which was held across the country’s Six geopolitical zones in Q4 2017 towards sustaining a comprehensive and credible database of pensioners domiciled at the directorate.”
It recalled that the Executive Secretary, Sharon Ikeazor, had assured pensioners that their entitlements would be computed and they would be enrolled to receive monthly pension payments even as approval is being sought to clear all arrears for pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).
The Parastatals Pension Department (PaPD) started verification of defunct and privatised agencies in Q4 2017, with the verification of Federal Housing Authority (FHA), New Nigerian Newspapers (NNN), NICON, Nigerian-Re and Delta Steel Company (DSC) pensioners across the country.
In Q1 2018, pensioners from the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) and its subsidiary, Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTEL) were verified and the computation of their benefits is ongoing.
