Alleged Party Primaries’ Irregularities: Tension Mounts In Asaba APC Secretariat

Crisis pervades the State Secretariat of the All Progressive Congress (APC) along Nnebisi road, Asaba Delta state over alleged party primaries’ irregularities.

In the early hours, fierce looking policemen armed ,to the teeth barricaded the entrance gate of the secretariat as aggrieved youths protests.

It was reliably gathered that the protesters, mainly youths, were angered by the recently conducted primaries across the state including the killing of a party chieftain somewhere in Ughelli, among others.

But an official of the party, Fredrick Ossai told OPTIMUM TIMES: “we are resolving the differences, the youths are really angry with the conduct of the primaries, we will resolve the difference”.

Speaking to OPTIMUM TIMES, the State Police Image Maker, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, in a swift reaction to the presence of over 500 policemen, said: “we got hint of unhealthy security report, we will not want break down of law and order in the state hence we drafted our men to the scene to maintain law and order”.

Sources said that before and after the just conducted parry primaries in the state, there had been uneasy calm among the party’s youths who allegedly threatened to disrupt the workings of the party if urgent steps were not taken to foil sinister motives of some of the chieftains to scheme out some persons, especially young aspirants.

But the State Party Chairman, Prophet Jones Erhue told OPTIMUM TIMES: “we are already taking care of the alleged irregularities, we have the security agents around the secretariat to forestall breakdown of law and order. We are determined to take over the state come 2019 general elections, it is normal to have some differences and be settled”.
