NSCDC Discovers Dead Body Of Newly-born Abandoned Baby Girl In Jigawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reported the discovery the body of a newly-born baby girl along an embarkment in Hadejia local government area, northeast Jigawa state.

The NSCDC’s spokesman in the state, Adamu Shehu, who confirmed the development, to Optimum Times, however, said, a search has begun to trace the mother of the baby, with a view to bringing her to justice.

He said it happened on Saturday, when residents of Kandahar quarters reported to Corps in the council that they have sighted an abandoned newly born baby in their neighbourhood.

“The personnel swung into action and reached the place where they met the abandoned baby by the road side, along an embankment and covered with leaves, motionless.

“The baby was immediately rushed to the General hospital, Hadejia but after examinations by a medical doctor, was confirmed dead.

“The dead body was then handed over to the ward head of Kandahar, Malam Sani Afenza for burial.

“However, intelligence and investigation officers were tasked by the state Commandant, Musa Mala to, as a matter of urgency identify and apprehend the person (s) behind the dastardly conduct for prosecution.”
