Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) on Tuesday unveiled its identities: new logo, Mission, Vision and Core values as the Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed, pledged to ensure transparency, neutrality, and reliability in grid operations and electricity market coordination.
He disclosed that NISO apart from target of being world class, intend to deepen participation globally, with partners like the West African Power Pool and contribute not just as observers, but as allies in regional electricity planning.
It would be recalled that the Electricity Act 2023, which repealed the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (EPSRA) of 2005, gave rise to the birth NISO through the unbundling of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed who spoke in Abuja at the formal unveiling of NISO new logo, mission, vision and Core values, explained that NISO exist to serve all participants in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry; DisCos, GenCos, eligible customers and other market participants fairly, professionally and transparently.
The Managing Director during the unveiling maintained that the work of the NISO does not center on boardroom but rather entails field operations to ensure accuracy, standards and stability in the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
According to him, “Our site engagements especially recently of the SCDA/EMS project and the level of completion with site inspections of Gwagwalada and Katampe substations reflect a management team that is not content with boardroom assumptions, we go and see for ourselves.
“We have commenced the Digitization and Automation Initiative, in partnership with global technology leaders Huawei. This will give us real-time system visibility, smart data analytics, and modern SCADA/EMS infrastructure. Let me put it simply: this is the kind of progress that turns institutions from reactive to proactive.”
He charged the management and staff not to relent in their efforts to actualize the made of NISO for overall stability of the electricity sector and economic development of the country.
“This is where I call on each of you not just to wear the new identity, but to live it. Leadership is not about titles. It’s about standards. It’s about showing others how we do things at NISO.
‘You must be ambassadors of this brand, upholding its values, defending its reputation, and demanding excellence across every layer of our operations.
“Let us not forget, the future of Nigeria’s electricity supply depends on trust. Trust in the market. Trust in the grid. Trust in institutions like NISO. That trust must begin here with us”, he charged.
Earlier in a presentation, the Executive Director, Finance and Corporate Services, Babajide Ibironke,
enumerated that the logo, represents energy flow, and balance, reflects structure, motion and control.
According to him, NISO mission involves to manage Nigeria’s electricity grid with reliability, efficiency, transparency, and enabling a sustainable and competitive power sector that drives economic growth and improves quality of life.
The vision entails establishing electricity market that empowers economic growth and sustainable energy for national development.
While the core values include: Integrity, Transparency. Sustainability, Professionalism, Innovation, Collaboration, Reliability, Safety, Boldness and Neutrality.
