As the nation’s economy continues to grapple with structural reforms, stakeholders in the insurance and pension sectors will converge in Lagos this September to explore ways of strengthening the regulatory and operational frameworks that govern their industries.

The 2025 National Conference of the Nigerian Association of Insurance and Pension Editors (NAIPE), themed “Strengthening Pension and Insurance Framework for a Better Economy,” is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, 10:00 AM in Lagos.

Now in its 10th year, the annual conference has become a pivotal platform for thought leadership, policy dialogue, and stakeholder engagement. This year’s edition promises to be particularly impactful, as it marks a decade of NAIPE’s efforts to bridge communication between the financial media and key industry players.

NAIPE has announced Mr. Olatunde Amolegbe, Managing Director/CEO of Arthur Stevens Asset Management Limited, as the Keynote Speaker. A respected voice in Nigeria’s capital market, Amolegbe is a Past President and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, with over two decades of experience in investment banking, asset management, and securities trading.

Chairing the event is Mr. Sunday Thomas, a seasoned insurance expert and administrator, who served as Commissioner for Insurance and former Director-General of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA). His leadership presence underscores the high-level attention being given to reforming sector frameworks.

Also expected at the event are prominent figures from both public and private sectors, including: Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, current Commissioner for Insurance, Mrs. Omolara Oloworaran, Director General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Mr. Ike Chioke, Chairman of Rex Insurance Limited

Top-level industry leaders such as Mr. Kunle Ahmed, Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), and Mr. Christopher Bajowa, President of the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), have confirmed their attendance.

The conference will also host a broad spectrum of stakeholders including financial regulators, policymakers, labour unions (such as the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress), pensioners’ associations, students, advocacy groups, and civil society organisations.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mrs. Nkechi Naeche-Esezobor, Chairperson of NAIPE, emphasized the significance of this year’s milestone edition.

“In line with our 10th anniversary, the theme is timely. It presents a critical opportunity to evaluate existing frameworks in the insurance and pension sectors, spotlight the challenges facing implementation, and collectively craft solutions that can drive better outcomes for the Nigerian economy.”

With its strong lineup of speakers and national significance, the 2025 NAIPE Conference is poised to shape policy conversations and influence reform agendas across the nation’s financial landscape.
