Leadway Assurance and Ecobank Partner to Bring Insurance Closer to Nigerians

In a bold step toward financial inclusion and consumer convenience, Leadway Assurance and Ecobank Nigeria have joined forces to embed insurance services within the daily banking experience of millions of Nigerians.

According to a statement signed by the company, the new partnership, officially launched , marks the beginning of a strategic bancassurance collaboration between one of Nigeria’s most trusted insurance providers and a leading pan-African bank.

The initiative promises to extend comprehensive, tailored insurance products—ranging from life and health coverage to motor and home protection directly through Ecobank’s vast distribution network.

The move signals a significant shift in how insurance will be accessed in Nigeria. By integrating insurance offerings into everyday banking platforms such as mobile apps, physical branches, and direct engagement channels, the two institutions aim to make financial protection more accessible, intuitive, and aligned with customers’ lifestyles.

“This collaboration is about making insurance simple, accessible, and part of everyday life,” said Kikelomo Fischer, Director of Sales, Retail and Partnerships at Leadway Assurance. “By working with Ecobank and leveraging their wide network, we’re bringing financial protection closer to people right where they are, and when they need it most.”

Fischer emphasized that this partnership is more than a business agreement it’s a mission-driven initiative designed to close Nigeria’s insurance gap.

“We’re not just selling policies. We’re building awareness and trust, and empowering people with the tools they need to secure their futures.”

Echoing that sentiment, Adeola Ogunyemi, Head of Distribution Channels and Sales for Consumer & Commercial Banking at Ecobank Nigeria, highlighted the convenience and value this partnership brings to customers.

“At Ecobank, we are delighted to partner with Leadway Assurance, one of the country’s foremost insurance service providers,” she said.

“This collaboration aligns with our vision to offer a comprehensive suite of financial services under one roof. With this integration, our customers can seamlessly access the protection they need, without stepping out of their banking ecosystem.”

The partnership will initially roll out across select Ecobank branches nationwide. Specially trained product champions will be stationed at these locations to guide customers through various policy options such as Leadway’s Group Life Cover, Personal Accident Insurance, and Term Life policies many of which are tailored to the needs of Ecobank employees, small business owners, and the general public.

Industry observers note that this move could be a game changer in a market where insurance penetration remains low despite a growing middle class and increased financial literacy.

By meeting customers where they are whether inside a bank branch or on a smartphone Leadway and Ecobank hope to transform how Nigerians perceive and access insurance.
