The President of the Lagos State University Student Union (LASUSU), Oladele Oluwatayo Olawale has urged institutions across the country to allow effective and independent activities of the student Union if they desire growth as reflected in the Lagos State University (LASU).
Olawale revealed this to Newsmen, Monday during a press conference on the on-going LASUSU Week tagged ‘Bringing Back the Future.’
He stated ” We thus state confidently that institutions that are undermining Students’ Union Government should stop and allow for effective and independent activities of the association. This certainly will contribute positively to institution growth as reflected in the Lagos State University.”
However, the president said that although the union has achieved a lot, there are more things that need to be done.
He called for the support of all stakeholders, public and private Institution on its projects needed to birth sustainable development.
Also, he noted that, the 29th LASUSU’s achievements were feasible through the inclusive leadership of the University Management, “which allows the Students’Union Government run independently with availability of needed support systems,” he stated.
Speaking on the LASUSU Week, Treasurer of the union, Olalekan Ibrahim stated that students suffering from fustration due to pressure from peer groups and family members, failure in examination, drug addiction to mention but a few will receive help as their issues will be addressed during the LASUSU week.
He said “this event is a platform for us to restore the lives of our world class students, those have lost their dreams due to fustration, fustration due to the results of their examination, influence from their peer groups that is why you see them in the campus doing ‘yahoo yahoo,’ drugs. We coming out with this theme is an avenue to restore their lives on campus,” he stated.
