Jigawa PDP Alleges Plans To Scuttle Council Polls, Vows To Fight It.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa state has alleged plans by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) dominated House of Assembly to tamper with the electoral laws to scuttle the forthcoming local government council polls.

But the PDP has vowed to resist any of such attempt by the state assembly to tamper with local government electoral laws to pave the way for the appointment of caretaker committees in the 27 local government area of the state.

This was contained in a press statement issued by state party Chairman, Ali Diginsa, Sunday night and made available to newsmen in the state.

The party accused the state assembly on allagedly conspiring with the state government and APC to amend the electoral law to create delay in conducting the council election.

The three-year of the incumbent chairmen of the 27 local government councils in the state is expected to expire on the 27th of this month.

According to the statement the state government and APC are jittery and afraid of going to election now because they have failed Jigawa people and thrown them into abject poverty and hunger.

“Jigawa people are eager to give APC it’s score card that is way the party and it’s leader do not want the state local government election to take place”

The statement described any attempt to temper with the state electoral law as undemocratic and anti people which will meet with staunch resistance.

However the PDP called on Jigawa state people to remain calm as time is drowning closer for them to vote out APC and it’s mess in the state.

The statement also faulted the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC) for it’s failure to uphold and discharge it’s mandate, saying “We have all lost confidence on you” the statement declared.
