The House of Representatives Primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Jigawa state passed off peacefully on Saturday in five out of the 11 Federal Constituencies in the state.
However, it was officially confirmed that shortly before the commencement of the primaries two of the contenders voluntarily withdrew from the race and pledged their allegiance to the eventual candidates who were earlier on adopted through consensus.
Governor Namadi who confirmed the withdrawal of the aspirants commended their spirit of sportsmanship demonstrated by the contesters. The governor said the 90% success rate of consensus arrangement was an indication that Jigawa state was the home of APC.
The primaries took place in Dutse/Kiyawa, Hadejia/Auyo/Kafin Hausa, Gumel/Gagarawa/Maigatari/Sule Tankarkar, Kazaure/Roni/Gwiwa/Yankwashi and Ringim/Taura Federal Constituencies
The governor commended the party stakeholders for their cooperation before during and after the election saying their contributions would go along way in solidfying Ithe unity of the party in the state.
He particularly thanked the party consensus committee headed by the first civilian governor of the state Ali Saad Birnin Kudu for a job well done. According to Namadi, in the whole of the elective positions to be contested in 2027, its only in three federal Constituencies that there were primaries an indication that APC had no issue in the forthcoming general elections.
In their remarks the Chief of Staff to the governor Sen. Mustapha Malama Kiyawa attributed the peaceful conduct of the Primaries to the leadership style of the governor.
Similarly the chairman of Taura local government council Mohammed Jarga described the conduct of the Primaries as peaceful and urged party faithfuls to rally behind the governor in ensuring huge success for the party in the next year elections.
