Damaturu Electricity Supply Gets Boost As TCN Commissions New 60MVA Mobile Power Transformer In Transmission Substation

Published

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has  boost  power supply in Damaturu and environs with the acquisition of 60MVA, 132/33kV Mobile Power Transformer at its Damaturu 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Yobe State.

The new transformer increases the substation’s transformation capacity from 120MVA to 180MVA, thereby enhancing operational flexibility and reliability, while providing redundancy during maintenance and outages, as well as enabling the substation to accommodate increased load demand.

Consequently, more bulk electricity is now available to the Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC, for offtake and distribution to customers in Damaturu, Buni Yadi, Babangida, the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, and surrounding areas.

The project is part of TCN’s ongoing Internally Generated Revenue, IGR,- funded initiatives aimed at expanding and strengthening the nation’s transmission infrastructure, thereby improving the reliability and efficiency of bulk electricity supply.
