Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) has attributed the current blackouts in most parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and its satellite towns to the destruction of 132kV Transmission line and the preventive maintenance exercises.
A statement from its management informed customers customers in Central Area, Wuse Zone 1 to 7, Maitama, Jabi and its environs that the power outage being experienced is due to a truck collision with the 132kV Transmission line along Mpape road which affected a phase of the 33kV feeder serving these areas.
OPTIMUM TIMES recalls that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) had yesterday alerted on the auto-crash which led to the damage of its transmission tower.
Further, AEDC said customers resident in Jiwa, DeiDei, Madala, Zuba, and parts of Suleja will experience power outage due to the preventive maintenance exercises by TCN on the following feeders: 33kV Jiwa , 33kV Suleja Township, 11kV Gauraka and Minna Road which is scheduled to last between 7am and 8pm today, 7th December 2022.
However, it said that efforts were being made by TCN’s engineering team to repair the damaged feeder which has equally created a load drop from Apo Transmission Station, Karu Transmission Station and Keffi Transmission causing power outage to customers resident along these parts.
It assured that all stakeholders were working tirelessly to ensure power supply is restored soonest even it urged customers affected by the blackout to bear with the company.
