In a bid to nurture creativity and build financial confidence among young Nigerians, SanlamAllianz Nigeria has launched a nationwide essay and storytelling competition for children aged 10 to 16.
The initiative, announced in July 2025, invites school-aged participants to submit original essays or short stories exploring themes that encourage imagination, discipline, purpose, and self-belief.
Organized in partnership with AfricaComicade, the competition aims to go beyond conventional writing contests by gamifying the experience and embedding values-driven learning into each stage.
Winners stand a chance to receive up to ₦200,000 in cash prizes, branded gift packs, and nationwide recognition. More than just a contest, the program is part of SanlamAllianz’s broader youth engagement strategy designed to make financial literacy more accessible and appealing to a younger generation.
“This competition isn’t just about essays,” said Chris Ekwonwa, Head of Strategy, Marketing and Customer Relations at SanlamAllianz Nigeria.
“It’s about empowerment. We’re using storytelling as a creative entry point into bigger life conversationsabout confidence, purpose, and money.”
To keep participants engaged, the contest includes gamified challenges, digital badges, and interactive prompts—tools aimed at blending education with entertainment. Interested participants can submit entries via the competition portal at https://bit.ly/SACOMP before the August 17, 2025 deadline.
SanlamAllianz says the writing challenge reflects its ongoing investment in youth empowerment, a commitment that has seen the company host children’s events in Lagos and Abuja in previous years.
The firm continues to position itself as a brand focused on shaping futures by insuring lives, and also inspiring them.
The competition is open to entries from across Nigeria.
