The victim, a police constable was reportedly killed when a group of suspected armed bandits struck at the official residence of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Aujara, Jahun Local Government Area, Jigawa State.

The incident occurred at the DPO’s residence reportedly on Tuesday last week. However, the motive of the attack remained still remained sketchy.

The death of the officer, identified as Nura Garba, a police constable, was confirmed by the District Head of Aujara, Aminu Dankade, in a statement posted on his verified Facebook account.

“This is Police Constable (PC) Nura Garba Jahun serving in my District Aujara Divisional Police Office. He was Killed by unknown Gunmen, May God Almighty reward him with Jannah,” the traditional leader posted.

The motive for the attack remains unknown. However, residents have speculated that the assailants may have targeted the DPO due to his handling of a specific case or ongoing issues within the division that had not favored them.

However, in another a twist to the development, about one week after the incident the State Command of  the Nigeria Police Force, (NPF) said it was not aware of the killing of the personnel
