At least two persons have been confirmed dead and 17 others suffered various degrees of injury, when a commercial bus crashed at Kiyawa-Jahun road in Jigawa state.
The spokesman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) in Jigawa state, Adamu Shehu confirmed the incident to reporters in Dutse, citing over-speeding as the cause of the incident.
He said the incident occurred on Thursday at about 6:00 am, involving a Grey coloured Toyota Bus with Registration No. MGM 435 XA (Borno) conveying passengers from Borno state.
He explained that the incident occurred around Katika village when the driver lost control of the vehicle as a result of over speeding thereby colliding with a tree by the roadside.

“The accident victims were immediately evacuated and rushed to a Primary Health Centre in Kiyawa LGA.
“Sadly, two persons were certified dead while others including the Bus driver sustained various degrees of injuries and referred to Federal Medical Centre, (FMC) Azare, in Bauchi state.
“The names of the deceased were given as Mohammed Atiku , 27 and Cecilia Peter, aged 21.
“The command enjoined motoring public to always drive with caution, avoid over-speeding and other road traffic violations.”
