The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Benin Region, has extended right-of-way clearance exercise to the removal structures encroaching on the new Ihovbor–Ajaokuta 330kV Transmission Line in Ihovbor Community, Edo State.
The management explained that the two-day operation was aimed at reclaiming TCN’s Right of Way (ROW) along the transmission corridor.
The exercise was carried out from Wednesday, 18th to Friday, 20th February, 2026, according a statement by the TCN management.
It recalled that ahead of the exercise, TCN had organised sensitization programmes to highlight the risks of encroachment on transmission lines, issued a three-month notice to the host community and provided compensation to affected persons.
The clearance was conducted by a team from TCN’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, working with the Property Department as traditional rulers, youth leaders, and other stakeholders were duly informed before the exercise commenced.
The TCN further explained that the action was necessary to protect lives and property while safeguarding critical power infrastructure along the transmission corridor.
