The duo of Senators Bukola Saraki of Peoples Democratic Party and Rochas Okorocha of All Progressives Congress have declared for 2023 presidential race.
Their declarations add to those of former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, who was the secretary to the government of the federation in former President Goodluck Jonathan’s six-year administration; Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former National Leader of the All Progressives Congress; and Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State.
While Saraki, a former Senate President declared his in interest via of his Facebook page, Okorocha however informed the Senate, Ahmed Lawan through a letter red at the floor of Senate Chambers.
He wrote: “Earlier, I replied to a follower of mine on Twitter who like thousands of you has been clamouring for a united front to #RescueNigeria.
“As we prepare for the journey ahead, I hope we can all join hands to get the ticket of our great party, PDP, and build a nation that works for all of us.
“Join me to make our communities safer and provide real opportunities for you and your families. I have a strong record of delivering and experience in making tough decisions.
“Let’s build a new Nigeria that works for EVERYONE!”
Okorocha indicated in the letter read during Senate plenary that he will address a world press conference on Monday 31st January 2022 to officially declare his ambition to contest the presidency.
