Protests: Ignore Agents Of Disunity, VP Shettima Urges Nigerians

Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has urged Nigerians to ignore those inciting national uprising under the guise of protests against the policies of the present administration.

He made the appeal in Dutse, Jigawa state during a one-day official visit to the state to launch and commission four youths empowerment programmes initiated by the state government.

Among the projects commissioned. by the vice president, included the Solar-powered 10 Hectares irrigation farm in Madobi in Dutse local government, 120 KVA Solar plant at Dutse Central market, State Empowerment Solar Kiosks and the launch of the Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, (MSMEs) Clinic,.

Address thousands of residents at the Aminu Kano Triangle in Dutse, the Vice President, described the advocates of national protests as unpatriotic and urged Nigerians to ignore them, urging patriotic Nigerians to join hands with the government in it’s task of finding lasting solutions to the socio-economic problems facing the country.

Describing Jigawa state as “a centtre of northern values” the VP commended the people of Jigawa for their support and understanding for the present leaderships, both at the state and national levels and appealed to them to continue to demonstrate that quality of followershop.

His words: “Please I’m pleading with you of Jigawa state and indeed, Nigerians not to listen to the terrorists and agents of destabilization, who are planning to cause chaos and disunity in the country. Already, we have a lot of problems in our hands to deal with like poverty, unemployment and other socio-economic issues, so we cannot afford to add other problems.

“The best we can do as patriotic citizens is to continue to show understanding and pray for our leaders as they struggle day and night to find lasting solutions to our problems.”

Speaking on the empowerment programmes, the VP described MSMEs as the back bone of the Nigerian economy as it provides more than 45,%i of the country’s gross domestic products, (GDP)

He, therefore, commended Governor Umar Namadi for his various youth emppowerment programmes, which he said, have attracted both national and global attention and pleaded with the people of the state to continue to show their understanding with the government and pray for it’s success.

Earlier, Governor Namadi had described the physical presence of the VP to commission and launch the various programmes and projects as a demonstration of the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration efforts at alleviating the suffering of ordinary Nigerians.

The governor listed some of the kndmark achievements recorded by his administration, which he said had impacted positively on the people, especially, in the areas of agriculture, MSMEs among others.
