The power sector has lost over N280,593,000,000 since January to July 27, 2018 due to constraints arising from Insufficient Gas Supply, Distribution, Transmission & Water Reserves.
This is according to statistics obtained by OPTIMUM TIMES from the Advisory Power Team, Office of the Vice President, Abuja,
Under service delivery for the day under review, on July 27 2018, average power sent out was 3,722MWh/hour (up by 36.68MWh/h from the previous day); 1,399.1MW was not generated due to unavailability of gas; 37.8MW was not generated due to unavailability of transmission infrastructure, while 1,779MW was not generated due to high frequency resulting from unavailability of distribution infrastructure
The record showed that 240MW was recorded as losses due to water management and the power sector lost an estimated N1,659,000,000 on July 27, 2018 due to insufficient gas supply, distribution infrastructure and transmission infrastructure.
The dominant constraint on July 27 2018 was due to high frequency resulting from unavailability of distribution infrastructure – constraining a total of 1,779MW from being available on the grid.
The statistics showed that Peak Generation for July 27, 2018 – 4,688MW while peak generation to date was 5,222MW achieved since 18 December 2017.
However, the estimated amount Lost to insufficient gas supply, distribution, transmission & water reserves to date in 2018 amounted to N280,593,000,000.
