The police in Jigawa state said they have foiled two kidnap attempts in some parts of the state between August 6-8, 2022, citing an attempt to kidnap some expatriates at a Tomato company in Birniwa local government area.
The spokesman of the command, DSP Lawan Shisu Adam, confirmed the development and the arrest of a suspect, in respect of the kidnap.
He said the first kidnap took place in on August, 6 at about 2:30 pm when some hoodlums, in their numbers, armed with sophisticated weapons suspected to be kidnappers stormed the residence of one Musa Barma’, aged 50 of Dunari Bakin Kasuwa, Malam Madori LGA, and made away with him.
“On getting the information, a team of Policemen attached to Malam Madori Divisional Police Headquarters proceeded to the scene of crime, the team courageously laid an ambush on the hoodlums’ expected route around Arbus village, Kaugama LGA.
“Fortunately, the strategy paid off as fierce encounter with the hoodlums ensued, which led to the rescue of the kidnapped victim unhurt while the abductors took to their heels and escaped to unknown destination.”
According to him, investigation revealed that, one Nura Ahmad aged 45 of Abuja Quarters Malam Madori LGA was involved in the case. Later he was arrested and brought to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Dutse for discreet investigations.
Similarly, police confirmed that on Monday, at about 2: pm, some group of armed men numbering about 20 riding on motorcycles, attacked Sonia Food Tomatoes Company, located at Birniwa LGA, with intent to abduct the white men attached to the company.
On sighting the men on guard, the undesirable elements started shooting sporadically which the operatives return fire with tactic and precision, and succeeded in foiling the abductors to retreat into the nearby bush.
Preliminary investigation revealed that, no one was kidnapped in the company, no any injury to any staff and the operatives.
He confirmed by that normalcy has been restored in the environs as rigorous patrol is being intensified to forestall further attack.
The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police of the command Aliyu Sale as appreciating the officers for rapid response, and tasked them not to relent in the fight against violent crimes
He also urged the public to always avail the Police with prompt information at right time.
