Police Engages Politicians On INEC Guidelines, Peaceful Campaigns In Jigawa

Jigawa state Police Command has restated its commitment to continue to engage politicians, and political parties candidates on the need to abide by Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) guidelines for peaceful conduct of campaigns and other election activities.

The state commissioner of police CP Effiom Emanual Ekot disclosed this when he paid a familiarization visit to the office of members of the Jigawa state Correspondents’ Chapel in Dutse.

He said, the engagement included series of stakeholders meeting, and signing o .peace accord among others.

The new police chief described journalists as critical stakeholders in establishing and promoting peace and security in the society.

He maintained that, his visit to the journalists’ office was aimed at strengthening the cordial working relationship existing between them and the command as he was briefed when assume office.

CP then urged the members of the chapel to keep up with their good work and also maintain their good working relationship with the police, especially in this critical time of campaign and other election activities for sustaining peace and stability which Jigawa state is known for.

The chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel Comrade Muhammad Zangina lauded the cordial relationship between the working journalists in the state with police and security agencies has contributed immensely in making Jigawa state one of the most peaceful state in Nigeria.

He said, the relationship between the chapel members and police was beyond writing the story but included sharing useful information and mutual engagement in any issue of security interest.

Zangina expressed the appreciation of the chapel members for the commissioner visit which he described as a great honour and a milestone in strengthening the cordial relationship existing between the two

Zangina promised to continue collaborating with the new the police chief in the areas of promoting public consciousnesses on security and also play their expected role in supporting peaceful political campaign and the forthcoming 2023 general election.
