***Commences Investigation

The Presidency has marshalled out security measures taken by the Police to secure the flash points in Plateau state after the mass killings allegedly perpetuated by armed Fulani herdsmen.
According tweets by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Police has among other things deployed the Deputy Inspector General of Police to Jo’s to coordinate operations on ground.
Further, even as the Police has already commenced investigations, it has deployed helicopters, Armoured Personnel Carriers, Police Mobile Force Units among others to enforce security.
According to the Presidential Aide tweets, “The IGP has also asked the Deputy Inspector General of Police; Department of Operations to relocate to Jos, Plateau State to coordinate and supervise operations on the ground. #SecuringNC
“Two Police Surveillance Helicopters, 5 Armored Personnel Carriers, 3 Police Mobile Force Units (PMF), 2 Counter Terrorism Cells (CTU ) and Police Intelligence Unit and conventional Police personnel from other States have also been deployed to the affected areas in Plateau State.
“A Police Special investigation Team, comprising the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Special Tactical Squad (STS) and Tactical Intelligence Unit (TIU), led by Commissioner of Police, IGP Monitoring Unit, have already been deployed to Plateau State & have commenced investigation.
“The Police Special Intervention Force will ensure full enforcement of the curfew imposed on the affected areas by the Plateau State Govt. Its personnel will carry out 24-hour surveillance and patrol; stop and search of vehicles and of suspected locations & hideouts of assailants.
