The Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, alongside the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, have been formally inducted as Fellows of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB).
The conferment ceremony, held during a gala dinner hosted by the Council in Abuja on Wednesday, drew prominent institutional leaders, policymakers, underwriting executives, and key players across Nigeria’s financial services ecosystem.
The fellowship represents the highest professional honour bestowed by the NCRIB, conferred on individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic execution, and landmark contributions to the development of the insurance market and the broader financial system.
The President of the NCRIB commended the two inductees, describing their recognition as a testament to their unwavering dedication to elevating professional standards, driving sound governance, and safeguarding the systemic stability of the market.
Omosehin’s elevation to the Council’s fellowship underscores his career-long track record as an industry operator and his ongoing regulatory stewardship at NAICOM, where he is steering sweeping reforms under the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) to modernize supervisory frameworks and boost penetration.
Senator Abiru was honoured for his pivotal legislative stewardship at the National Assembly, particularly in driving forward-looking fiscal and financial sector enactments that provide statutory backing for regulatory oversight, institutional capital formation, and consumer protection.
Speaking on the sidelines of the ceremony, industry stakeholders noted that the event served as a collaborative bridge uniting regulators, lawmakers, and intermediaries to accelerate policy alignment, improve cross-sector synergy, and advance the Federal Government’s financial inclusion and economic renewal agenda.
