NNAMDI KANU: Reminder To Outgoing President Buhari.

How will the South East remember you? Our dear outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari. Most especially, the spirits of the Late Elders, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi and Prof. Amb. George Obiozor, former President General of Ohanaeze Nd’Igbo.

Of course, they will remember you for
your hardness of heart in your refusal to release to them the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in order to facilitate restoration of lasting peace in the South East region.

You remember that the release of Kanu was their last wish and request to you at the Presidential Villa before their death. Apart from them, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the current President -General of Ohanaeze Nd’Igbo; Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, among others, had also re-echoed the request at different fora because they desire peace.

But you declined under guise of let the legal system have its course. Surprised and disappointed, the South Easterners are, indeed, at your refusal to accede to their only collective and persistent request.

Because my scripture, The Holy Bible, (Luke 18: 2 -5), has a narrative that says: There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regard man; and there was a widow in that city, and she came unto him, saying, avenge me of my adversary. And he would not for a while. But afterwards, he said within himself, Though, I fear not God, nor regard man; yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming, she weary me.

The South Easterners have troubled you more than enough than the woman in the narrative troubled the Judge with her request and received positive response.

But for hardness of heart, your refusal to release Nnamdi Kanu implies that you were not bothered at all by the plight of insecurity, making you worst than the judge who doesn’t fear God nor respect any man. The consequences include the depreciating business opportunities and retarding development occasioned by the insecurity in South East region. It also suggests that the South East should perish under insecurity because even your deployment of troupes/security agents to the region has not restored the much anticipated peace but rather exacerbated insecurity.

As you retire to Daura, even to Niger Republic, will the traumatized spirits of the late South East Elders and the living ones who desired peace in their domains, bid you, Go in Peace? Spirits are without boundaries. It’s up to you!
