The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has released guidelines informing the general public on how to have to access to the self-service modification portal of the National Identification Number (NIN).

According to a public advisory statement by Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head, Corporate Communications Unit of NIMC, applicants for the NIN Data Modification should, follow the under listed stages:

For Single Browser and Device Access, your self-service account is uniquely tied to the browser and device used during registration. Access to your account is therefore limited to that specific browser on that particular device.

On NIN Record Modification, to change your NIN record, you must log in using the same browser and device originally used to register the account. Any attempt to use a different browser or device may result in access issues.

For Cache Clearing Warning, clearing your browser cache will reset the browser and may lock your account. If this occurs, the account will require an unlinking process to regain access.

On Unlock Attempt Limit, once your browser and device are locked, you are permitted a maximum of five (5) unlock attempt requests. Please be advised that no further requests will be processed after this limit is exceeded.

He explained that these are some of the measures put in place by the Commission to safeguard and protect the Identity of the users of the self-service modifications portal.

The Commission urged all users to carefully follow these guidelines to avoid unnecessary disruptions and delays.

“Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as the Commission continue to safeguard your data and improve service delivery”, he stated advising that for further assistance, contact should be made through support channel- nimccustomercare@nimc.gov.ng.
