The Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) and CEO of AXA Mansard Insurance, Mr. Kunle Ahmed, has been confirmed as Guest of Honour at the 2025 edition of Insurance Meets Tech (IMT).

The event will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in Lagos.

Ahmed will join a distinguished lineup of leaders from Nigeria’s top insurance institutions, including Prince Babatunde Oguntade, FIIN, FCIB, President of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB); Mrs. Yetunde Olubunmi Ilori, FIIN, President and Chairman of the Council of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN); Mrs. Abimbola Onakomaiya, President of the Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA); and Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).

Odion Aleobua, Convener of IMT and CEO of Modion Communications, described Ahmed’s participation as a major boost for this year’s event.

“Having the Chairman of the NIA on board is a monumental buildup to this event. Kunle Ahmed is not only a respected leader in the industry, spearheading the premier umbrella body, but he is also a dedicated advocate for the digitalisation and tech-led innovations within the Nigerian insurance sector,” Aleobua said.

He noted that Ahmed’s presence is particularly timely following the passage of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) and the launch of the NIA Innovation Lab. “His insights and perspectives will undoubtedly enrich the discussions at the conference,” he added.

This year’s IMT conference will also feature an international perspective with South Africa’s Per Lagerström as Headline Speaker. Lagerström, a former Partner at McKinsey & Company, is globally recognized for his expertise in insurtech, behavioural science, and innovation. He is the founder of BehaviorTech — a field that blends behavioural science, AI, and innovation — and currently serves as CEO of Yellowspot, an Ireland-based venture studio developing disruptive ventures in financial planning, education, longevity, and digital transformation.

With NAICOM, CIIN, NIA, NCRIB, and PILA all represented, IMT 4.0 is set to reinforce its position as the most critical convening ground for Nigeria’s insurance ecosystem, bringing together industry voices to shape the future of insurance through innovation and technology.
