The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has the tariff payable by Band “A” customers from NGN225/kWh to NGN206.8/kWh.
Consequently, the Commission has directed the 11 Distribution Companies (DisCos) to effect the new tariff for the month of May, 2024.
NERC in a statement explained that the review was based on “changes in the macroeconomic parameters over the preceding month of April 2024 and especially the appreciation of exchange rates”.
This is even as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has subsequently informed band “A” customers in its franchise areas of the reduction of tariff effective May 6, 2024.
While assuring customers on its Band A feeders of continued availability of electricity supply for 20-24 hours daily, AEDC however, stated that the tariffs for Bands B, C, D, and E remain unaffected.
The Commission reassured its commitment to providing a balanced and effective regulatory regime serving the needs of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
