NDE Trains 50 Agriprenuers In Jigawa

As part of its efforts at campaigns to stem the rising tide of youths unemployment, the National Directorate of Employment, (NDE) has organised a two-week training programme for agribusiness practitioners in the state.

The training programme, under the 2024 Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme, ( SADTS) was organized by the Rural Employment Promotion (REP) Department of NDE.

It has among other objectives of creating employment for the rural communities through modern innovative agricultural technology along it’s value chain, to improve the livelihood of the rural populace, reduce rural-urban migration and expose unemployed youths to the potential in the exotic vegetable.

Flagging off the training, the Director-General of NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo charged participants to take advantage of the programme to improve on their skills with a view to creating legitimate wealth among their people.

Represented by the State Coordinator of NDE, Sa’ad Yarima Iya, Fikpo said, “Remember that with the training, you’ll be empowered in modern agricultural activities including off farm activities and life skills to be able to over come the challenges of your immediate environment.

“The training provides you with the opportunity to acquire knowledge required to set up your agribusinesses. You should, therefore, justify these efforts by putting in your best to succeed agripreneurs as the agency attaches very high premium on this initiative due to its multiplier effects for increased wealth creation.”

in his remark the Deputy Director REP in NDE, Ms. Beatrice Onuoyehu, who was represented by an official in the agency, Yusuf Abdullahi Sorau said the programme would create employment and generate wealth that would go a long way in reducing the number unemployed persons in the country.

Fatima Abdullahi and Aisha Mohammed, who were part of the trainees lauded the NDE for initiating the training programme, which they believed would go a long way in reducing incidents of chronic unemployment being experienced by millions of youths in the country.
