In a move to bolster literacy and ignite a love for reading among Nigerian children, Leadway Group has launched the third edition of its literacy initiative, Pages to Places, targeting 10,000 pupils across five states.

The company revealed this in a statement by its corporate communication department, it stated that The campaign, which began on May 28 and will run through June 5, is taking the power of storytelling to public nursery and primary schools in Lagos, Kaduna, Ondo, Enugu, and Edo states.

Through book donations, storytelling sessions, and the establishment of reading clubs, the initiative aims to nurture imagination and broaden the horizons of children—particularly those in underserved communities.

“At Leadway, we understand that every child may not be opportune to explore the world, but we trust that children can be transported there through the power of stories.”

“In communities where dreams are limited by circumstance, Pages to Places becomes a launchpad for limitless imagination.” said Aishat Bello-Garuba, Head of Corporate Services at Leadway Group.

The 2025 edition brings onboard acclaimed author and cultural advocate Lola Shoneyin, alongside Bunmi Aboderin-Talabi, founder of the Akada Children’s Book Festival, as part of a nationwide tour to promote reading. Their collaboration is expected to enrich the campaign’s impact by fostering deeper engagement with young readers.

Since its inception, the Pages to Places campaign has reached 24 schools in nine states, distributing books, setting up mobile libraries, and encouraging the formation of after-school reading clubs.

The initiative has also featured prominent Nigerian authors including Jude Idada, Titi Umaru, Victoria Afe Inegbedion, and Ayo Oyeku, all of whom have brought stories to life in classroom settings.

Leadway’s continued investment in literacy reflects its broader commitment to social development and education equity. “Our commitment goes beyond providing books and promoting reading culture. We aim to build stronger communities and inspire hope by expanding access to meaningful literacy to every child, regardless of their background,” Bello-Garuba added.

As this latest edition unfolds, Leadway Group reinforces its belief that stories have the power not just to educate, but to transform lives one page, one place, and one child at a time.
