In a strategic push to bridge the gap between the financial services sector and public perception, Leadway Group has hosted a media training session aimed at strengthening partnerships with journalists and deepening understanding of the insurance and pension landscape.
The initiative is part of the company’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion and clarity in public discourse.
Bringing together journalists covering insurance, pensions, and brand communications, the training offered in-depth sessions led by experts from across Leadway’s subsidiaries including Leadway Assurance, Pensure, Health, Asset Management, and Trustees.
“Our goal goes beyond promoting products; it’s about partnership and clarity,” said Aishat Bello-Garuba, Head of Corporate Services at Leadway Group. “The media plays a vital role in shaping public understanding. By supporting accurate and insightful reporting, we help build trust in the financial ecosystem.”
The training delved into key industry topics. Babatunde Lamina, Benefit Processing Specialist at Leadway Pensure, explained the mechanics of Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs), stressing their role in securing stronger retirement outcomes for professionals. “AVCs are a flexible tool that allow contributors to grow their pension savings responsibly,” he said.
Clarifying common misconceptions around insurance claims, Adekanmi Adelakun, Team Lead for Casualty and Liability Claims, described the claims process as “our shop window,” emphasizing transparency and customer education.
On regulatory trends, Temidayo Olugbesan, Compliance Lead at Leadway Assurance, encouraged journalists to keep pace with evolving industry standards. “Regulations are designed to protect policyholders and enhance industry accountability. Awareness is essential,” she noted.
Health coverage also featured prominently, with Eniola Odukale of Leadway Health highlighting the company’s extensive hospital network and its mission to reach underserved populations. “Our customer-centric model is backed by over 2,500 hospital partnerships nationwide and growing international links,” she said.
Beyond capacity building, the session underscored Leadway’s broader vision: a media ecosystem empowered to report on financial services with clarity, accuracy, and purpose. The company continues to prioritize collaboration and innovation as part of its drive for industry advancement and inclusive growth.
