The newly appointed Registrar of the Lagos State University (LASU), Mr Olayinka Amuni, on Saturday promised that the university would be transparent and consistent in the application of the rules and regulation guiding its staff and students.

Amuni, in an interview with newsmen said this was necessary to sustain the current peace enjoyed in the university and prevent any staff or student crisis.

”Most of the problems we have with our unions is as a result of inconsistency in the way we apply our rules, but that is not going to be my style.

”That is not the style of the present council, the Vice – Chancellor and other staff of the management team, so that is not also going to be my style.

”We will ensure that we drive our processes using the university rules and regulation and we will be very open.

”We will be consistent with what we do by giving the same interpretation to the rules guiding each department , ” he said.

According to him, the registry would serve as a barometer between the various unions and the management, as the department was critical in the rebranding LASU project of the current Vice – Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun .

He said the management would establish a unit that would be readily available to interact with its various unions regularly to enable it address any problem that may arise during the daily interaction.

”LASU is lucky with the set of administrators we have now at the governing council because they are seasoned administrators and a lot of them are retired permanent secretaries and successful individuals in the industry.

”Their vision is to drive our processes using the rules and regulations guiding the university .

”The Vice-Chancellor is a lawyer, I am also a lawyer, so we want to bear our training as lawyers to ensure that we drive our activities using the rules and regulations guiding the university.

”The rules of the university are known to all its stakeholders and it is only when you begin to apply the rule differently for different sets of people that you begin to have issues, ” he said.
