LASU Media Awards: Optimum Times Correspondent, Azodo Bags 2019 Best Online Reporter

The Lagos State University (LASU) under the auspices of Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPPR) has awarded Optimum Times Senior Correspondent, Loveth Azodo the best online reporter for the year 2019.

Azodo and other media personnels were awarded at the just concluded 3rd LASU Media Parley and Awards which took place at the school premise.

The award presentations kickstarted with the conferment of Special Recognition Awards to former Heads of the CIPPR, Mr Kayode Sutton, Prof. Sola Fosudo and Mrs. Mabel Oyeniji. Excellence in Service Award was also presented to Mr Kayode Ajiboye of the Daily Independent Newspaper and Oluwakemi Oladipo of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The 2019 Best Online Reporter went to Loveth Azodo of Optimum Times, Best Print Reporter was clinched by Tunbosun Ogundare of Tribune Newspaper, Best Radio Reporter went to Kikelomo Ifekoya of FRCN and Best Television Reporter went to Iyabo Wale-Eri of NTA.

Seun Gbanja was also awarded CIPPR Best Staff of the Year. The award was with a cash prize of Twenty Thousand Naira (N20,000).

In his welcome address, The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun Ph.D, SAN, NPOM appreciated the members of the press for their total support to the LASU project, attributing the worldwide positive perception of the varsity to the support and balanced reportage in the press.

“The acclaim being received by the University from all over the world was due to her positive reportage in the press,” he noted.

According to the Head, CIPPR, Mr Ademola Adekoya, the Media Parley and Awards event is an avenue to celebrate LASU’s Media friends and appreciate those of them that had stood out in the course of reporting the University in 2019.

“Media was critical to the rebranding project of the Centre. I thank you all for always giving a balanced reportage of the University, these awards was to show appreciation for your good works,” he insisted.

It would be recalled that Azodo was nominated last year for the varsity’s 2018 Best Online Reporter
