All is set for Lagos State University Alumni to host the maiden edition of the Professor Folabi Olumide annual lecture which has been scheduled for Thursday, April 11.
The Nigerian academic and medical surgeon, Prof. Folabi Olumide is best known for being the pioneering Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, from 1983–1988.
The lecture Titled ” Rethinking Medical Education: An Imperative for Improving Health Care in Nigeria” will be held at the Aderemi Makanjuola lecture theatre at 11:00 am.
According to the University’s weekly bulletin, the event will be chairman by Minister of State for Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, while Provost, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Folusho Afolabi, LESI will be the Guest Speaker of the Occasion.
The bulletin also contain the sanction of farmers who farm on the campus for harassing female students. It reads “The University Management has been duly informed that farmers on Campus have formed the habit of harassing our students [particularly the female ones] when leaving Campus in the evening.
“This development is quite unpleasant and unacceptable because the security of lives and properties of our staff and students is paramount to the Management and under no circumstance can this nefarious act be tolerated.”
“Owing to the above, the University Management has DIRECTED that with effect from today Thursday, 4th April, 2019, no farmer on Lagos State University Campus shall be allowed to farm beyond 6:00pm. Any farmer found on farm beyond 6:00pm will have the farm land revoked from him/her and shall be arrested and handed over to law enforcement agents.”

Recall that the Caverton Offshore Group Chairman, Aderemi Makanjuola donated the Aderemi Makanjuola Ultra Modern Lecture Theatre to LASU, a 500-seater hall on November 22, 2018 to mark his 70th anniversary.
The University also reiterated the commencement of lecture for newly admitted students as some of the students are yet to start attending lectures.
The bulletin reads “All newly admitted students for the 2018/2019 Academic Session are hereby informed that lectures had since commenced at various Faculties/Schools/College of the University for the First Semester of the Session.”
