Lagos State has been selected to host the second Made In Nigeria Brands carnival and Exhibition based on the fact that it is the commercial hub of West Africa and the market place of all Nigerian businesses.
The Lagos edition of Nigerian Brands Carnival and trades exhibition tagged 2ND MADE IN NIGERIA BRANDS (MAIN 2) is slated to commence on March 26th while the exhibition and carnival would commence March 29th, 2018 at the newly constructed Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park, Alausa, Lagos.
The maiden edition of the carnival and exhibition held in Abuja , 2017 was described as a success as it had 70 exhibitors and different entertainers played in it.
At the Press Conference held in Lagos, The National Coordinator of the events, Adegboyega Ojuolape and his partner, Ogedengbe Ayo Moses stated that the event is coming against the backdrop of the call on Nigerians to help Nigerian companies succeed through a concept they called Patriotic Buying.
According to Adegboyega Ojuolape, “We are here to promote quality made in Nigeria products and to change that impression out there that made in Nigeria products are not good enough. You will be surprised to know what these people do out there. We always make sure that every product being exhibited has the necessary regulatory conditions.
“We also have taken into consideration the fact that Nigerians like entertainment. So, we have a lot of talented young artist that will be coming to perform at the venue of the exhibition, because it’s a carnival anyway. We use the opportunity to entertain people ”
Also speaking, the Event Support Executive, Micheal Ayeni , said: “We have a lot of schools involved as well, it’s more like an excursion for kids. Whatever the exhibitors do they teach them how to do them, like sewing of clothes, making of shoes etc. The idea is catching them young and getting them interested in all these things. It is very vital to grow our economy”
Speaking on endorsement, Communications Strategist, Oyedengbe Ayo Moses, said: “We have the support of the good people at Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Lagos State Advertising and Signage Agency (LASA), The Ministry of Commerce, Industry Trades and Cooperatives, as well as that of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), where a great job is being done to help citizens get employed and also move into entrepreneurship. The Lagos State Park and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) is also showing wonderful understanding as we move on to deliver on the Lagos 2018 edition”
“We had the first event in Abuja to honour the universality of Nigerians as the capital city and as a mark of respect for the town. Having achieved good success there and our aims achieved, we decided it is time to take it to the stage of commerce.
“The need for this exhibition, according to Adegboyega is more than ever before, very critical to the nation’s prosperity and survival. No company can succeed without its entrepreneurs, innovators and inventors making a success of their products and services. If Nigeria is to succeed, made in Nigeria must succeed.”
