Jigawa Politician, Kiyawa Dies, Leaves Vacuum In APC

The Jigawa state political landscape has been thrown into mourning on Sunday following the death of one of it’s prominent political figure, Tijani Ibrahim Kiyawa.

Kiyawa, until his death at about 10:45 pm on Saturday, was the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Jigawa South West District.

He died barely three months after he won the APC senatorial ticket for his zone where he polled 361 votes. He was the lone contestant in the primaries.

The late Kiyawa, died in Chinese hospital, where he was reportedly flown to from an Abuja hospital, after his condition deteriorated following a lungs-complicated ailment.

The late former lawmaker represented Dutse/Kiyawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2011 to 2015.

In his condolence message, Governor Badaru Abubakar has said by the death of Kiyawa, he has lost a dependable ally.

The governor, in a statement, through his media aide, Habibu Nuhu Kila, said Kiyawa’s death was great loss not only to his family but to the Muslim Ummah.

The governor described the late politician as a loyal and dependable man, “who contributed immensely to the political development of the country,’’.

Badaru prayed to Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The deceased politician left behind a wife, aged mother and many children.

As at the time of writing this story, OPTIMUM TIMES observes that arrangements for the burial of the deceased today were being finalized.
