The Jigawa state government said it is working hard to return over 30, 000 out-of-school children back into the classroom across the 27 LGAs in the state within the shortest possible time frame.
The state governor, Umar Namadi, gave the assurance at the distribution ceremony of some educational materials to selected students drawn from across the state.
The distribution of the materials under the aegis of Danmodi Students Cares Initiative of the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Students’ Matters, Amb. Muhammad Salisu Seeker included laptop computers, Brail for the blinds Keke for the limbs, bicycles school uniforms for both boys and girls among others.
Speaking at the distribution of uniforms and other learning materials to registered students, Seeker said, their union was very concerned on the high rate of out-of-school children in the state.
He explained that, after conducting a survey on out of school children in the state they found many factors responsible for the development, noting that many of them were out of school because they lost their fathers while their mothers can’t not afford to send 5 to six children to school.
“Based on that, our union embarked on campaign to enroll 30,000 of such children back to class, some were dropout while have never been registered into any formal system of education”
“In each of our 27 local government areas we tergated to support over 1,000 children and also at the same time support their mothers to ensure punctuality and retention of the students”

Seeker promised to continue supporting Jigawa state government policy designed to ensure every child gets access to quality education irrespective of their parents’ socio-economic status or geographical location.
In his comment at the occasion Jigawa state Governor Malam Umar Namadi lauded the union efforts in supporting educational development in the state.
He then charged them to keep on monitoring the students they enroll back to class and promised to provide them with all necessary support to enhance access to quality education from primary to tertiary for every child in Jigawa state.
