The Jigawa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) has called on residents of the state, especially the youths to shun the proposed nationwide protest to avoid throwing the country into anarchy.

The chairman of the party in the state, Aminu Sani Gumel made the call in an interactive session with newsmen in Dutse, the state capital on Sunday.

While conceding that “peaceful and purposeful demonstration” were parts of the constitutional rights of the citizens, the APC leader, however, submitted that those promoting the August nationwide protest, were faceless and lack sincere motive.

Gumel noted that, APC believes in democratic process in resolving any disagreement or national challenges for sustainable peace and progress, not use of any means that would end up aggravating the situation and destroying the country.

According to him, “the nature of the proposed demonstration appears to be very fragile and vulnerable for hijack by agent of destruction and criminaly-minded people who don’t mean well for the nation and its people, therefore every good citizen should kick against it.

“As leaders of the agitation for the demonstration are unknown, participants will not know from whom to take instructions, this will make the process vulnerable to be hijacked by people with sinister motives which may turn it to bloody and destructive “

“We as party leaders, we are very concerned and sensitive about the current social and economic challenges, and we believe it is time for every well-meaning citizen to join hands with government to tackle the challenges for sustainable peace growth and development.

“But poorly organized and violent demonstration could not solve the problem”.

Gumel, however, assured Nigerians that, “the APC-led Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is very committed to work for the betterment of the nation, and all it’s policies and programmes are geared towards making the country better for the citizens.
