The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has opened a new front in its digital transformation agenda with a partnership with the FinTech Association of Nigeria aimed at accelerating the growth of InsurTech in the country.
At a meeting held yesterday in Abuja, the Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, and the Association’s delegation led by Segun Aina, President of the Africa FinTech Network, discussed strategies to modernize the insurance sector through technology-driven innovation and collaboration.
Omosehin underscored the importance of digital adoption as a catalyst for expanding insurance penetration and rebuilding public trust.
“Our priority is to position the insurance industry at the forefront of Nigeria’s digital transformation while safeguarding the interests of policyholders,” he said.
Aina pledged the Association’s support in strengthening the ecosystem through partnerships that will foster innovation and financial inclusion.
He noted that insurtech solutions could close existing gaps in access, efficiency, and affordability across the industry.
Both parties agreed to maintain continuous engagement as part of NAICOM’s broader reform agenda under the new administration, with a shared goal of building a more transparent, inclusive, and technology-driven insurance sector.
