Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state have received knocks for sacking his media aide, Salihu Tanko Yakasai who was bold to speak truth to power over the daily kidnapping cases in the country.
Yakasai had while reacting to the news of abduction of over 300 female students at Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to either deal with the incessant kidnapping cases or resign.
He wrote on Twitter: “Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number 1 duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives & properties. Not a single day goes by without some insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign.
“Each time another tragedy happens, we lament, condemn, create a hashtag, the govt pretends to do something, no concrete steps to prevent re-occurrence, and then we repeat the process. To what end? Where are those saddled with the responsibility?
While applauding Yakasai’s boldness, the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose tweeted: “I commend the courage of Salihu Yakasai, the sacked Gov Ganduje’s Aide for being able to speak truth to power. This singular action of his has made him the latest hero of our democracy, and in turn confirmed that there is hope for a united Nigeria.
“Nothing can be more honourable than what he has done by standing tall amidst darkness & selfishness of leadership. His sack is the beginning of his rise politically.I sincerely congratulate him & indeed the ordinary Nigerians seeking good governance & leadership.#BuhariMustResign
“Sad that under this govt, our security men are only efficient in persecuting whoever speaks against the President. Sad that Nigerians can’t criticize the same President who did not only speak against his predecessors, but also led protests. #FreeDawisu
