A physically-challenged voter who approached Senator Remi Tinubu for for money was stunned when she turned him away on account of his ethnicity.

In her comments which is bound to elicit reactions as the day goes on, Mrs. Tinubu, wife of All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, told an Igbo man, Charles Nnamani, that the Igbo could not be trusted.

She complained that the Igbo in Lagos did not vote for President Muhammadu Buhari during the presidential election.

Nnamani told her that he voted for Buhari.

But Mrs. Tinubu said, “How will I know? You Igbo, we don’t trust you anymore.”

There has been tension, especially in Lagos where it has been alleged that a particular party, its agents and thugs have targeted voters of Igbo extraction for verbal and physical attacks because it is believed they prefer another party.

In some areas, voters were violently prevented from voting while others who voted were chased away and their votes invalidated by destruction of ballot papers and other voting materials.

Incidentally in some of those areas, fresh voting into the House of Representatives seat is taking place in the areas alongside Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

Earlier, Senator Remi Tinubu, who had already cast her vote in the governorship and state Assembly elections at Polling Unit 034, Falomo Police Barracks IV, Ikoyi, located directly in front of her Bourdillon residence, was besieged by a crowd of people waiting on her.

“Show me your hand, get the money,” Tinubu told the crowd who made demands for money.

Tinubu, speaking in a mixture of pidgin English, Yoruba and Itsekiri languages, said she was not into vote-buying.

In fact, an Itsekiri woman and her children told the Senator in her dialect that she came with her children because she heard that money was being shared.

She urged the people to go to the polling booth and cast their votes.-Everyday Nigeria
