The Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission, Tony Ojukwu has urged the public to leverage on the new automated complaint reporting database platform to report the various forms of human rights violations in the country.
Ojukwu Who spoke while unveiling the automated complaint reporting database in Abuja, said that it came into being following a robust partnership between the Commission and CLEEN Foundation.
The automated database was unveiled during a webinar meeting with stakeholders.
The automated complaint reporting database on human rights, according to the Executive Secretary, is a real time digital platform that provides citizens with opportunities to promptly report all forms of human rights violations involving civilians, security personnel etc.
He stated that the platform will among other services provide a strong link between key oversight agencies of government and internal mechanism within security agencies in providing quick redress to victims.
Participants at the event include the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, who was represented by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba; Commissioner, Police Service Commission, Rommy Mom who represented the Chairman, Police Service Commission.
Others are the Executive Director, CLEEN Foundation, Dr. Benson Olugbo and the Country Director, Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), Mr. Jude Udo Iloh.
All unanimously lauded the initiative of the Commission and CLEEN Foundation to float an automated complaint reporting database, firmly stating its effectiveness in reporting cases of rights violations as they arise.
