…As Members Plans To Deepen Outreach On Constitution Review

The House of Representatives has proceeded on recess as part of efforts to promote effective representation by Members of the Green Chamber.

The recess which is coming shortly before the Easter and Eid al-Fitr holidays will among other objectives enable Members of the House engage their constituents across the country.

Honourable Members are expected to use the period to deepen grassroot engagement with relevant stakeholders on the Constitution Review process, as a way of harnessing inputs into the memoranda through their respective constituency offices.

Lawmakers and their aides will also use the opportunity to carry out extensive work on pieces of legislation, motions and petitions on their tables ahead of the House resumption. In line with parliamentary tradition however, various Committees of the House will continue to exercise their oversight functions through scheduled hearings and meetings.

Shortly before adjourning plenary, the House passed six bills including a Bill for an Act to amend the Appropriation Act, 2023 to extend the implementation year from 31st March 2024, to 30th June 2024 and for related matters.
