Heirs Insurance Includes Teachers in Annual Essay Championship, Offers ₦10.5 Million in Prizes

Heirs Insurance Group has launched the fourth edition of its annual Heirs Insurance Essay Championship, expanding the initiative to include teachers for the first time since its inception.

The competition, which targets Junior Secondary School students across Nigeria, now offers a total of ₦10.5 million in prizes to reward both students and educators.

This year’s edition aims to deepen insurance awareness among young Nigerians while recognising the role of teachers in promoting financial literacy.

The winning student will receive a ₦5 million scholarship and a ₦1 million education grant for their school. The first and second runners-up will receive ₦2 million and ₦1 million scholarships, respectively.

Entries are to be submitted online at www.heirsinsurancegroup.com/essay between May 27 and July 8, 2025. Students are required to write an original essay of no more than 500 words on the topic: “The Role of Insurance in Keeping Families Safe and Secure.” Quizzes on insurance-related themes are also included in the application process to further engage participants.

In a notable addition to the programme, Heirs Insurance has introduced the Teachers’ Insurance Awareness Prize (TIAP).

The top teacher will receive a ₦1 million cash prize, while their school will receive a ₦500,000 grant. To qualify, teachers must execute an insurance awareness project and submit evidence of its implementation and impact.

All entries will be evaluated by a panel of academic professionals, with quality assurance provided by Deloitte & Touche to ensure transparency and integrity in the selection process. Winners will be announced at a grand finale event scheduled for August 2025.
