Flooding: Jigawa Invites Netherlands Coy To Find Lasting Solution

As part of the efforts to permanently tackle the incessant flooding in the state, the Jigawa state government has invited a Danish company to design measures to achieve the objective.

The representatives of the company, Aveco de Bondt carried out a presentation through projection of the intended measures at the Government House, Dutse with Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and other top government officials in attendance.

Speaking shortly after watching the demonstration Badaru, however, urged them to consider cost of the project.

The governor said the state government was ready to partner with body that is willing to support the state in reducing the damages caused by the flood disaster.

He attached the company with committee of specialists to go round and access the flood situation across the state.

He assured that Jigawa government under his leadership was committed to find a solution to any problem bedeviling the state including the flood.

“We are committed to support any partner who will help us to solve flood problems once and for all in Jigawa state” ,he said.

Speaking to journalists after the presentation of the measures to Jigawa executive council, the senior hydrological officer of Aveco de Bondt company of Netherlands, Mr Jeroen Helder said, their company was tested in Netherlands flood disaster and succeeded in reducing the damages.

He explained, their team would go round with state delegation team for assessment of causes of damages before designing measures and the amount it would cost to solve it.
